PATNA: The Central University of Bihar (CUB) is going to organize the first-ever ‘summer school’ in mathematics and statistics for undergraduate students from May 30 to June 11 this year.
CUB registrar M Nehal said the summer school is being organized for the second and third year undergraduate students of mathematics and statistics pursuing their studies within the territorial jurisdiction of Bihar.
The summer school, being organized as a part of the CUB’s academic endeavour to provide quality higher education, aims at reaching out to potential talents. It also aims at inspiring and motivating the young minds to take up higher studies in theoretical mathematics and statistics and enhancing and enriching their academic capabilities pertaining to the theoretical, applied and computational aspects of mathematics and statistics.
Students selected for the summer school will not be charged any fee. In addition, the CUB will arrange for their food and accommodation during the period, along with a provision of travel assistance to participants coming from outside Patna, said the registrar.
Seminar postponed: A two-day UGC-sponsored national seminar on “Role of science and technology in developing society”, which was to be organized by Sri Arvind Mahila College on April 20 and 21, has been postponed due to unavoidable circumstances. It will now be held on July 29 and 30 this year, said the seminar organizing committee secretary, Arun Kumar.
