PATNA: The college and university teachers of Bihar, who retired prior to or after January, 2006, would get their pension (or family pension) at a revised rate with effect from March, 2011.
The benefit of merger of 50 percent dearness relief would also be given while revising the existing pension in the light of the Sixth Pay Commission recommendations.
Giving this assurance to a delegation of the Federation of Retired University Teachers’ Associations of Bihar (FRUTAB) on Tuesday, HRD minister P K Shahi said that a government circular to this effect would be issued to all the universities shortly.
Federation general secretary Ram Pravesh Singhsaid that the minister further assured the delegation that the universities would be asked to send their detailed requirement of additional fund for pension revision. On receipt of the same, the government would immediately release the requisite funds to the universities to start payment at the revised rate with effect from March, 2011. Regarding payment of arrears of revised pension, the delegation was assured that necessary steps would be taken by the government for the release of arrear amount.
The FRUTAB delegation consisted of Ghanshyam Prasad Singh, Ram Pravesh Singh, N K P Sinha, Rajeshwar Prasad Sinha, Abdus Sami, Arjun Prasad, K K Sinha, Birendra Prasad Sinha, Umesh Prasad, B P Sinha, Mohd Alam and others. The minister was assisted by principal secretary, HRD, Anjani Kumar Singh and others.
