London, June 12 (ANI): India batting star V V S Laxman reckons England should prepare for an all mighty battle in this summer’s series.
England captain Andrew Strauss on the other hand wants to remove India from the top perch.
In 2007, India showed its desire to achieve with a first Test series win in England after 21 years.
The Daily Star quoted Laxman, as saying: “I’m very proud of what we have done over the last few years and especially how well we have played overseas. We have taken a lot of pride from the way we have won Test matches and Test series abroad. That gives us a lot of satisfaction.”
He added: “We are progressing well as a unit and we just want to go from strength to strength in every Test match and Test series we play. In England it’s a great experience and challenge for us because of the -weather and pitch conditions that we confront.”
Laxman thinks the Indian players will be ready for the threat England’s bowlers will offer.
“We’ve been impressed by England’s recent results like the one in the Ashes, though we were aware of the potential the England side had. We were more confident England would win than Australia. They were the stronger side going in and none of us were surprised by that result. But saying all that, we are quite -confident in our own ability and believe that we will again do well this time around,” Laxman said.
Laxman, who has 7,903 runs in his 120 Tests, flies to the Caribbean today for a Test series against West Indies. (ANI)
