BHAGALPUR : Aimed to increase literacy and better the chances for the prisoners’ futures, an extremely ambitious edification programme has been initiated at two jails in Bhagalpur district.
Jail administration and directorate of mass education are jointly conducting this programme named ‘Prerna.’
‘Prerna’ aims to educate the prisoners so that they can fit-into the mainstream society post a period of partial isolation. Statistically, it aims to educate 750 jail inmates, which includes 50 to 60 women, by January 2012.
