Bihar CM Nitish Kumar will kick off a tree plantation drive from his native village Kalyan Bigaha in Bihar’s Nalanda district on August 11 to promote ecology and save the environment of the thinly forested state. The plantation drive was being made to coincide with the JD(U) membership drive so that people in taking the membership of the ruling would have to plant a tree at a place of their choice, state party president Vashistha Narayan Singh said today.At least one lakh trees would be planted during the afforestation drive by JD(U) in the state during this monsoon, he said.The JD(U) hopes to rope in 50 lakh members to the party through the green campaign, he added.
