 Datawind Corporation has started online booking and delivery of the Indian Invention Akash Tablet . Within 3 days of the beginning of booking, it has reported to have over 100000 bookings. Only student version is available for booking at this time. You can book Akash Tab Online at www.akashtablet.com. However the site is responding slow due to heavy traffic.
No immediate payments are to be made now. The payment mode is Cash on Delivery which is supposed to be within 7 days of the booking. But, seeing the immense demand it seems impractical.

Datawind is taking orders only for  student Version (priced Rs 2500) and pre booking orders for  commercial version (priced Rs 2999).  The delivery of Commercial version is yet to start and is not expected to be before January 2012.
The commercial version will have Android 2.3, have a resistive touchscreen, Cortex A8-700 MHz processor, graphics accelerator, HD video processor, 256 MB of RAM and 2 GB of internal memory

Akash 2 is awesome i just got few days back i had booked in march 2012. It supports mostly all android software and its leather cover and keyboard gives a professional look.
