Global Bihar Summit 2012 kick started on Friday amid political jingle. Â It was inaugurated by Nepal PM Dr. Baburam Bhattarai in the presence of around 1000 delegates of local national and international fame. Dr. Bhattarai was accompanied by a 17-member team of delegates.
Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahulwalia, commission member Abhijeet Sen, Infosys former chief N.R. Narayana Murthy, IT major Wipro Technologies chairman Azim Premji, Aditya Birla group chairman Kumar Manglam Birla, Reserve Bank of India Governor D.Subba Rao, Securities and Exchange Board of India chairman U.K. Sinha, economist Lord Meghnad Desai, lyrist Javed Akhtar, Bollywood actor Sharmila Tagore, and filmmaker Prakash Jha were present in the summit.
Taking the advantage of the opportunity Dr. Bhattarai called for greater coordination between Bihar and Nepal on Economic and Political grounds. He praised the Nitish Government for the outstanding work in last couple of years and termed as something which Nepal can learn from.
Nitish Kumar in his address stressed on the grant of special status to the state of Bihar. “When I was elected by the people of Bihar, I had two dreams to fulfill. One was to improve the road condition of the state and the second one was to ensure that each plate in the country had at least one specialty from Bihar. While my first dream is getting close to being fulfilled, I am still trying to attain the second dream and this is where I need all the help I can get from all of you,” the Chief Minister said.
