Global Bihar Summit 2012 witnessed the largest ever gathering of  about  1,000 policymakers, investors and economists from about 24 countries in Patna. Amid tight Security  it was inaugurated by Nepal PM Dr. Baburam Bhattarai.  He arrived in  a special Nepali Army aircraft at the Jaya Prakash Narain International Airport Patna along with a  17 member delegation from the Himalayan Nation
Dr. Bhattarai was very impressed by the developments in  Bihar and praised both the Government and people for this feat. “Bihar has dramatically whipped up its security systems and has improved its performance in the key sectors of health and education. Its progress makes us envious. So, let the lands of the Buddha and Emperor Ashoka join hands and strive for regional integration”, he said.
In his address Nitish Kumar directly took  Deputy Chairperson of the Planning Commission  Dr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia on the issues of Special State Status to  Bihar. He  requested his cooperation for the same. The journey ahead is quite tedious and the people of Bihar need your cooperation in this respect,” Kumar said looking straight at Ahluwalia.
In an interesting  incident Dr. Ahluwalia could not find a place on the dias and was left to sit with the audience. Later he was called upon to occupy a suitable place on the dias.
Reserve Bank of India Governor Dr. D. Subbarao made a shocking revelation that most banks tell him that the demand for credit is negligible in Bihar. He however assured of further Investments and Money Lending.
Dy. CM Sushil Modi addressing audience  –  Next time when you come here again for the summit in 2017, you will find Bihar a developed state. We are very confident that we will succeed.
