Barh based NTPC Thermal Power Plant would be operational by 2013 Â and Bihar would get 660 MW of Power from the phase 2 of the plant which is almost half of its total capacity.
As revealed by CM Nitish Kumar, Central Government has agreed to give 660 MW of Power generated in Phase 2 Â to Bihar. This would definitely help in curtailing the power crisis which has been looming over the state for more than a decade. Bihar’s total power consumption is about 2000 MW but it produces only 100 MW and about 500 MW is purchased from other sources.
Nitish said that  Union Minister for Power, Sushil Kumar Schinde  has agreed to allocate 660 MW of power from  Barh plant. The CM also said that Bihar would get additional 100 MW of power from other sources.
