Sadhvi Pragya Thakur suffering from Breast Cancer

Sadhvi Pragya ThakurBhagwan Jha, Brother-in-law of Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, who has been implicated in 2008 Malegaon blast Case, has claimed that she is suffering from breast cancer, which is at an “advanced stage”. He also produced reports from Mumbai’s Indian Cancer Society to support his claims at a press conference. Pragya is in the custody of the Bhopal police.

Pragya Singh Thakur has been in Bhopal’s Swami Vivekananda Regional Spine Centre for the past two months, recovering from a spinal ailment, and has been seeking bail from the High Court on health grounds.

Jha claimed that the government kept the truth under wraps despite knowing that Pragya was suffering from cancer. “It wants the sadhvi to die of cancer to prevent a nationwide uproar if she is proved innocent and the theory of saffron terror falls flat,” Jha said, blaming the Centre and the ATS for Pragya’s “condition”. However, the case has been with the NIA for over a year.

In June this year, a test was conducted on Thakur in Bhopal, with the mass sample in her right breast sent to the Indian Cancer Society in Mumbai.

The medical document under the society’s letter head which was produced by Jha at the press conference states that “invasive ductal carcinoma” has been detected in the right breast.

“Doctors had treated and taken a sample of the mass in June last month when she was admitted in Bhopal. The samples were sent to the Indian Cancer Society, which finally gave its diagnosis to us this week. This news has come at a very strange time. We are worried for her health as she is already undergoing stress and acute pain due to her spinal problem. We will now provide this medical record to the High Court to expedite her bail procedure. She needs to undergo immediate surgery and also the relevant course in chemotherapy. We are willing to co-operate with the investigation at all stages, but we need to seek bail to ensure she has a safe life ahead,” Jha said.

National Investigation Agency (NIA) officials confirmed knowledge of the medical document, but added that only the court has the right to call for a verification of the diagnosis and decide on subsequent bail.

Pragya’s advocate Naveen Chomal said he moved an application in the special MCOCA court about three weeks ago for bail on medical grounds. “As the request was not granted, we have filed an application before the Bombay high court,” said Chomal.

Meanwhile Twitter Users have launched an Active Campaign #FreeSadhviPragya  to get Sadhvi Pragya Thakur released from Police Custody even after 4 years. Till date, no charges could be proved against her. Lets hear what Twitter people have to say
