Metro Rail Construction at Lucknow to begin by December

Lucknow: The Construction of much awaited Metro Rail shall begin in December this year, according to Metro Officials. The First phase which is to begin in December 2013 would have length of 36 km under the standard unigauge system.

The Holding Company for the metro rail shall be Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation which would be registered by October 20.  The registrar of companies yesterday cleared the name of Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC). Initial estimates shows that the cost of Construction of the Metro would be around Rs. 12000 Crores.

Lucknow Metro shall consist of two corridors: North-South and East-West one from Amausi to Munshi Pulia and other from Vasant Kunj to Charbagh Railway Station. Both lines will intersect at Charbagh. An extension line from Indira Nagar – Gomti Nagar – Polytechnic Crossing will extend it to Patrakarpuram, Gomti Nagar.

The Lucknow Metro is a joint project of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and Lucknow Development Authority.  Japan International Cooperation Agency is also lending Financial Support to the project.
