In a Complaint filed with District Collector of Kollam, the 39 year old Actress had alleged that she was misbehaved  physically at the race by a Lawmaker. She also named another Politician  in her complaint.

Though Shweta  did not reveal the identity of the politician who allegedly harassed her, media footage showed Congress MP N Peethambara Kurup from the area touching her.

On his part, the 73 year old MP  strongly denied having committed such an act.  “By any means, looks or touch if she has felt anything wrong in any ways…  Am not a person who will commit any such action as an MP. We have called her and asked for apologies if ever she felt any disrespectful action from any one of our community members”, said the Lawmaker.

The Actress later made a statement of withdrawing her complaint against the MP.  “In the wake of Mr Peetambhara Kuroop’s repeated public and personal apology about the incident at the President’s Boat Race at Kollam, I am withdrawing all legal and other actions against him,” a press release issued by the actress said.

The  entire incident attracted  severe outrage from  the Malayalam film Industry and Women Right Activists. Kerala State Women’s Commission also hinted at making a suo moto enquiry into the incident.

Born in Chandigarh to Malayalee Parents, Shweta Menon grew to act in a number of Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam Films. She is married to a Businessman and currently lives in Mumbai. The Actress fell into a controversy last year when her Child Delivery was shot live for a Malayalam Film.
