Patna: The Marine Drive at Patna would be operational by 2017 end. Also known as Loknayak Jayprakash Narayan Ganga Marine Drive, it would connect Digha and Deedarganj via a 21.5 km long road. The land acquisition process has been completed and the construction company has been allotted around 72% of the total land.
Out of 21.5 km, 4 km would be elevated while the remaining would be on ground. It would have four lanes with Street Lighting, Greeneries on both sides along with Pollution Monitoring Equipments.
It is being jointly developed by Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) and Government of Bihar. It was approved in August 2007 and the groundbreaking ceremony was held in October 2013 by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
The cost of 21.5 km stretch between Digha and Deedarganj has been estimated to be Rs. 2234.46 crores. The second phase extends the road by 18 km to Fatuha.
