Google launches Person Finder for 2015 Indo-Nepal Earthquake

Google Inc’s charitable arm Google.org has launched Person Finder for the missing person on the backdrop of 7.9 Magnitude Earthquake on April 25, 2015 in Indian Subcontinent which left over 200 dead in Nepal and India apart from causing extensive damage.

Google Person Finder helps people reconnect with friends and loved ones in the aftermath of natural and humanitarian disasters. It works in following steps:

  1. A crisis strikes and people get separated.
  2. They let the world know they are looking for someone.
  3. Individuals and organizations provide information.
  4. People find information about their friends and family

A massive earthquake measuring 7.9 magnitude struck 80 km east of Pokhara in Nepal on Saturday, causing some buildings in the capital Kathmandu to collapse, witnesses said.

Still photographs showed women and children sitting outside a school after the quake hit. Sources from Kathmandu also said that some buildings collapse and walls of several houses reduced to rubble.
