New Delhi, Sept 15 (ANI): Shiv Sena has demanded that Veer Savarkar be given Bharat Ratna, contending that the icon of freedom struggle had been “deliberately neglected” by previous governments due to his staunch Hindutva views. He further said that the event to honour Savarkar should be held at Cellular jail in Andaman Islands where he was kept for many years. Raut has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to confer Bharat Ratna to Savarkar. In a letter sent to Prime Minister Modi, Raut described Savarkar as a ‘staunch supporter of Hindu nation’ and accused the previous governments of ignoring the freedom fighter.
