Yumlembam Sapna Devi: Pride of Northeast

Guwahati, Mar 24 (ANI): Yumlembam Sapna Devi, who hails from Irilbung village of Imphal east, is also amongst the gold medalists of Manipur at the recently concluded South Asian Games in Guwahati and Shillong. Born to late Yumlembam Sanatomba Singh and Yumnam Ongbi Jamini, 23-year–old Devi Sapna Devi bagged a gold medal after scoring 9.45 pts in the women Wushu Taulu (Changquan) Competition. Sapna Devi had also participated in various national and international level Wushu championships. All together, she has won 37 Gold, 7 Silver and 2 Bronze medals in the National and International Wushu Championships in her career. Belonging to a poor family, Sapna Devi had to struggle a lot to reach where she is at present and her family is happy for her achievements. Currently she is also undergoing her post graduation. At her very tender age, she Joined Gymnastic which later she was introduced to Wushu since then she never turned back and started her journey. Sports in Northeast indeed has created a history with number of young and budding talent bringing glory not only to north east but to the entire country.
