Bihar’s first revolving restaurant soon

PATNA: The long wait may finally be over. The revolving restaurant located on the 17th floor of one of Patna’s tallest building Biscoman Towers is near completion.

“It has taken a long period. But work appears to have speeded up. There is still some legal wrangles about the rent of the leased space and we have given notice on this account. But the project should be finally through in a couple of months,” said Biscoman administrator Ashok Jha.

If the project finally comes into existence it will be the first restaurant in of its kind in Bihar and Patna will join the elite club of cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Jaipur having revolving restaurants. The promoters say that gthe restaurant located at least 85 metres above ground level will have one the best scenic sights of the country from where revellers will get a view of the entire city and its surrounding, including the Ganga, the historic Golghar, Gandhi Maidan and many other historical sites here.

“Any customer spending an hour’s time here can see all this. Because that is the time the restaurant will make a 360 degree round,” said Sumit Kheria one of the promoters of the restaurant. He said there will be dedicated lobby at the ground floor and a dedicated lift to reach the restaurant. “There is enough space to adjust 140 customers at a time. The kitchen will be one floor below,” he said.

The promoters are going to have a tie-up with nationally acclaimed “Pind Balluchi” which has its outlets across the metros in India. “The group has high reputation in hospitality sector with specialization in good food,” claimed Kheria, stressing that the prices will be affordable. “If Patnaites can afford other restaurants like Kapil XI and Yo China, they will be able to afford this one also,” he said. Incidentally, there is also an open terrace on the 16th floor which can be booked for celebrations.

During the last three years, Patna has witnessed rapid rise of quality restaurants, many of them franchisees of a national chain of restaurants. It has changed the lifestyles of families with at least a section of the population developing the habit of eating out and staying out till late night. The city already has access to a floating restaurant which ferrys across the Ganga. The revolving restaurant will give another option to restaurant revellers.
