Govt preparing well for any flood

Patna, Jun 4 (PTI) Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi today reviewed anti-flood measures in Bihar ahead of the monsoon expected to hit the state by the middle of this month.

He directed the Municipal and Urban Development Department officials to ensure that all 55 drainage pumping stations remained functional to pump out water from the marooned areas in the event of flooding.

There should be deployment of one flying squad with a junior engineer in charge at each pumping station to immediately carry out immediate measures for the discharge of flood water, Modi said and asked the officials to set up a control room with adequate staffers to provide emergency services to the affected people.

The Deputy Chief Minister was informed by officials, including those from Power Department, that adequate measures have been taken to control flood-like situation in Patna.
