Teenaged labourer from Bihar turns Karate practitioner

Patna July 5: (ANI) Sheila, 14-year old girl from Bihar, who used to work as a manual labourer, recently participated in martial arts competitions in Malaysia and Singapore.

Hailing from Jhaaj village, Sheila Kumari was one of six participants selected from all over India.

The daughter of a rag-picker, Sheila belongs to an impoverished family, and is one of six brothers and sisters.

“Five days training were there, and after that there was a fight and they selected one girl from the district, and then I got the chance to visit Singapore. Then I had a fight competition again and from there I got the chance to visit Malaysia,” said Sheila.

Rajni Bala, a local said she is very happy that Sheila got the chance to visit such countries.

“We are feeling good because she used to work as a labourer and now she has visited Singapore and Malaysia,” said Bala. (ANI)
