Noted dermatologists to attend meet in Rajgir

PATNA: Noted dermatologists from across the nation would be participating here in a three-day Zonal Conference beginning in the hill city of Rajgir from December 17. The conference would be attended by dermatologists from the seven sister states of the region – Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, N-E states and Manipur.

More than 50 renowned dermatologists from New Delhi, Bangalore, Mangalore and Pondicherry would too be there at the meet which would be inaugurated by chief minister Nitish Kumar. State health minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey would also be present on the occasion.

Giving out details, associate professor, department of skin and dermatology, Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), Dr Amarkant Jha Amar said that on December 17 a continued medical education ( CME) and workshop would be held. In this session, dermatologists gathered from across the nation would share their experiences and ideas in treating different diseases such as HIV-Aids, leprosy and other skin diseases. A panel discussion would also be held on the occasion where the experts would discuss ways on how to treat the poor patients who can’t afford to bear the medical cost involved in the treatment of these diseases, he said.

While chief minister Nitish Kumar would be inaugurating the conference on December 18, Choubey would be the guest of honour.

Dr Amar said that on December 19, a free treatment camp would be held where scars and other skin-related diseases would be treated free of cost for the benefit of the poor section of the society.
