Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi presented Rs 65,325.87 crore annual budget for 2011-12 in the State Assembly in Patna on February 25, 2011.
Road construction, human resources development, health and water resources will be the major part of the expenditure.
Modi, who is also state Finance Minister, proposed to raise value added tax on certain goods in schedule three from 4 per cent to 5 per cent, while on various consumer goods such as TV, refrigerator and automobiles from the present 12.5 per cent to 13.5 per cent.
He said road construction, human resources development, health and water resources would remain to be the priority areas in 2011-12 and announced an allocation of Rs 5,075 crore, about 21.15 per cent of the state plan of Rs 24000 crore.
