Campaign begins to inform people about Census

PATNA: The Regional Census Directorate here has launched a mass awareness programme so that the people of the state give all information sought by the enumerators engaged as part of the nationwide Census 2011 operations that began on February 9, including in Bihar.

Assistant census director (publicity) Satish Kumar said that posters, banners, hoarding and stickers have been pasted, fixed or erected at key and nodal points in all the towns and panchayats of the state both to motivate and inform people about the significance of the Census 2011. Besides, information has also been put on prominent walls, while kits were being distributed among school children. Various competitions like marathon, run for general awareness, cycle race and quiz have also been organised, Kumar added.

He said that Patna division commissioner K P Ramaiah has already flagged off vehicles for all the districts to facilitate publicity drive and general awareness programme. State census director K Senthil Kumar appealed to the people to actively participate in the census operations by giving correct information to enumerators, since the data base prepared would help in the planning process for the welfare of people.
