The Bihar government will recruit 45,000 constables over the next five years, Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary said on Wednesday.
The recruitment would bring deployment of policemen per one lakh population to the national ratio, he informed the state Assembly in reply to a debate on the home department’s budget of Rs 3969 crores.
The Nitish Kumar government has been able to establish the rule of law in the state in contrast to the lawlessness that prevailed in the state during the RJD-led government of 15 years, he said.
The law and order situation in Bihar has come in for praise from across the country and the world, the water resources minister said.
