New Delhi, Mar 14 (PTI) Congress may have criticised Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during the Bihar Assembly elections last year, but Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee today had a word of praise for the NDA government in the state for the “good work” done in road projects.
“In development of state highways, good work has been done,” Mukherjee said in the Rajya Sabha winding up the debate on the General Budget 2011-12.
The Centre had allocated Rs 3,075 crore for Bihar for state highways out of Rs 8,750 crore given under the special plan for the state.
However, on the demand for according special status to Bihar, the Finance Minister said he or even the Prime Minister was unable to do so.
He said this was the prerogative of the National Development Council which comprises chief ministers and union cabinet ministers, with the Prime Minister as its head.
