New Delhi, April 15 (IANS) A delegation of the Global Association for Persons of Indian Origin (GOPIO) India chapter met Bihar Governor Devanand Konwar Friday to further boost ties with the large number of PIOs tracing their roots to the state.
A GOPIO statement said that the 10-member delegation had met the governor at Bihar Nivas here.
A large number of PIOs, most of them descendants of indentured labourers, have traced their roots to Bihar, it said.
The governor has reportedly offered to help the PIOs to trace their roots and connect with Bihar as well as engage them in contributing to the state’s economic growth.
A conference of PIO journalists will be held in Patna in 2012, prior to the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, added the statement.
