PATNA: Even though the panchayat elections have been held on non-party line, the NDA has expressed satisfaction over the results claiming majority of the victorious people are either members or supporters of the ruling alliance.
The NDA workers from Kosi belt, who gathered here on Monday, expressed confidence that this would help further strengthen the organizational base of the JD(U) and the BJP and expand the network of the two parties at grassroot level.
Taking a cue from their views, chief minister Nitish Kumar announced the formation of Lok Prahari to have an effective check and balance on the elected representatives of panchayats and local bodies which will be empowered to hear complaints against them and take action. The constitution of Lok Prahari is on the lines of Lokayukta and Lok Pal. Bihar will be the first state to have such a regulatory authority.
