Minister for Minority Affairs and Information Technology from the Indian state of Bihar Shahid Ali Khan will attend the Bihar Diwas celebrations to be jointly hosted by expatriate forum, Indian Association for Bihar and Jharkhand (IABJ) and Bihar Foundation (Qatar chapter) at Al Ghazaal Club tomorrow.
This year, the day coincides with the centenary celebrations of the formation of Bihar after the state was separated from Bengal on March 22, 1912. “The motive to celebrate Bihar Diwas in Qatar this time is to bring all the people of Bihar origin around the world on one platform and also to feel proud of the present Bihar and its glorious past and to join hands in the progress of the homeland,†said chairman of the Bihar Foundation (Qatar chapter) Shakil Ahmed Kakvi. The organisers also released, a message by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. “It is heartening that Biharis living away from Bihar have been able to attain success in establishing their identity across the world. It is praiseworthy that even after residing in a foreign country they have not forgotten their native place and continue to think seriously about Bihar, †Nitish Kumar said. They also released a message from the deputy chief minister of the state Sushil Kumar Modi. The organisers will confer the “Maulana Mazharul Haque award†to the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The organisers will also honour -Dr Ahmed Abdul Hai, a renowned surgeon and philanthropist from Bihar. Indian ambassador to Qatar Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa will be chief guest at the function. At the meeting, the organisers will release the forum’s in-house magazine Unnati (Progress).
