In the wake of the apex court’s guidelines, Nitish Kumar government has decided to introduce high-security number plates and licence system in Bihar soon, state transport minister Brishen Patel said.
Talking to reporters here, Patel said work was going on in full swing to implement the high security number plates system to check misuse of the vehicles by terrorists after these were being stolen.
“We are doing it in accordance with the Supreme Court’s guidelines”, he said.
The Centre, according to Union Motor Vehicle rules, made the high-security registration plates compulsory and these number plates would be specially designed in chromium and aluminium.
“A proposal to this effect will be soon be placed before the state cabinet for approval”, he said. The Union government had authorised 18 agencies for the specific type of registration plates.
