Board of Governors (BoG) of the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), Patna, unanimously passed the suggestion of chief minister Nitish Kumar that those students who have cleared the BCECE-2011 should get a chance for admission to the MBBS course to be run by the institute for the session 2011-12.
Even those candidates who had opted for IGIMS in the first counselling would be given chance, depending on their position in the merit list and keeping in view the availability of seats, said health minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey here on Wednesday after the BoG meet.
Earlier, IGIMS, an autonomous body, which was recently granted permission by the Medical Council of India (MCI) to run the MBBS course with an annual intake of 100 students, had announced to hold an all-India test to select the 100 students and published advertisements, asking aspirants to submit their applications.
