BSEB (Bihar State Electricity Board) has entered into agreement with Essar Energy Plc under which Essar will provide 300 MW from its upcoming 1,200 MW Tori-I plant in Jharkhand. This comes second after Essar Energy agreed to supply 450 MW in July, 2010. Essar will supply this for next 25 years lessening some of the pressure on the state’s feeders.
Essar Energy is part of conglomerate Essar group. Essar Energy said it has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB) for 300 MW of contracted capacity from 1200MW coal based Tori-I plant which is under construction in Jharkhand.
This PPA was secured only after a competitive bidding process under which the supply will commence in May 2015
