Bihar CM Nitish Kumar flagged off his Seva Yatra from West Champaran from today.Under this he would tour various parts of state in phases. The Yatra would last for as long as 100 days and during this period Kumar would review state’s development and inform people about the government’s initiatives in tackling corruption. The Yatra would take place in phases and is expected to end by March 2012.
Shri Kumar has taken 6 different Yatras in past 6 years since he assumed the role of CM. It was preceded by Dhanyawad Yatra in 2010 and Vikas Yatra in 2009. This is also seen as an opportunity to poster himself as a potential Prime Ministerial Candidate for forthcoming elections. It is also important to note that other prospective PMs from NDA, Shri L K Advani and Shri Narendra Modi have also recently undertaken such Yatras.
However, sources close to Nitish Kumar say that he wishes to use this opportunity to take feedback from masses about the Governance in Bihar. He would also check the efficiency of Right to Service Act recently introduced in Bihar. In the last Vikas Yatra he spent night time in remote villages collecting feedback about the various Govt. Schemes.
