India marks entry into World Cycling Championship

After 1 years of Winning World cup Cricket for the second time, India has marked entry in to the World Cycling Championship for the first time.

The trio of  Bikram Singh from BSNL, Amrit Singh from Railways and Amarjit Singh of Punjab qualified for the event, to be held in Melbourne April 4-8.

The three riders achieved the feat despite getting no financial help from the union sports ministry.

Twenty-four countries out of 147 had made the cut for the Championships after battling it out in the continental qualification. The event is also a qualifier for the London Olympics.

Meanwhile, India will host 2013 Asian Championships for track and road events.
