After instituting Krishi Ratna award for best farmer in a block, the Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government Saturday declared an award for bureaucrats putting up a good performance.
The government from now on would assess works of the block development officers (BDOs) and will honour them with BDO Ratna award.
“For carrying out good works, one needs recognition. The government from this (fiscal) year will keep an eye on and assess the works of WBCS (West Bengal Civil Service) officers and BDOs. It will honour the BDOs who will put up good performance,” Banerjee said here.
“The government will give the officers BDO Ratna award for their excellent performance,” she informed.
The chief minister exhorted the bureaucrats for doing a “great job” in the months after the new government came to power May last year.
She called for greater coordination in the state’s administration for its better functioning.
Earlier, state Finance Minister Amit Mitra had announced that the government would institute a Krishi Ratna award for the best farmer in a block.
“This award shall comprise Rs.5,000 in cash and a citation,” Mitra had said.
