Yoga guru Baba Ramdev will sit on a day-long fast against corruption and black money in the capital Sunday (June 3). Social activists Anna Hazaare will join the much-awaited fast with Baba Ramdev. Sources says that about 3000 people will join the day long fast which will be against the corruption and black money.
“We have been preparing for the last ten days. We have been sending out SMSes, distributing pamphlets and doing street plays in Delhi-NCR (National Capital Region),†said an official of Team Anna.
“We are focusing on the youth and street plays and interactive sessions are are being conducted in Delhi University and the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU),†added the official.
“Accompanied by 3,000 supporters and Anna Hazare, Ramdev will reach Jantar Mantar Sunday at 10 a.m. and sit on a day-long fast against black money and corruption,” said a statement.
Hazare and Ramdev would reach the fast venue after paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat, it said.
Ramdev would break his fast at 6 p.m. to mark the beginning of candle marches and protest rallies in 627 districts, it said.
According to a statement, Baba Ramdev and Anna Hazaare will reach Jantar-Mantar at 10 a.m. Hazaare and Baba Ramdev would first pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat and then reach to the Jantar-Mantar.
Baba Ramdev will break his daylong fast at 6 p.m. to mark the beginning of the candle march. After this he will start his protests march in the 627 districts of the country.
It is noted that the fast is crucial for both Ramdev and Anna Hazaare as they have announced earlier regarding the fast and both have ascertained to cooperate each other on various occasions.
On March 25, Anna Hazare went for  a day-long fast at Jantar Mantar to demand that parliament pass the Lokpal bill and a stronger whistle-blower protection programme under the Jan Lokpal Bill.
