The BJP today said it has plans to hold protest demonstrations against petrol price hike in a novel way through non-fuel vehicles like bullock carts and camel carts.
“There will be an eight-day mass mobilisation campaign after the Bharat bandh on May 31 all over the country,” BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters here after conclusion of the party’s two-day national executive meet.
Party leaders will travel in vehicles like bullock carts to protest the petrol price hike, he said. The BJP will undertake a membership drive from June 1 to July 31, Prasad said. Party leaders Thawar Chand Gehlot will be the chief electoral officer for party organisational elections, while Radha Mohan Singh will be in-charge of the membership drive, he said.
Organisational polls at the local bodies level will be completed in September, at the bloc level in October and at district level by November, Prasad said. Elections for posts of state unit chiefs would be held by December 15, after which the process for electing the national president will be held, he added.
