Bihar Government goes social, joins Facebook and Twitter

Facebook LogoAfter US President Barack Obama, and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, it is  Nitish Kumar led Bihar Government which  goes social. The Government has taken a positive step forward by joining Social networking Websites Facebook and Twitter.

The General Administration Department, Government of Bihar,  has opened an account on Facebook and Twitter  to maintain transparency in its functioning, official sources said today. The General Administration Department is one of the most important regulatory departments of the State Government. Deepak Kumar, principal secretary of the department, said, “We would upload certain information and important announcements of the state government on both the sites”.

The Facebook Page was started on June 20 and till date (23 June) ,  564 users have liked the Page. The department, which acts as a nodal agency of the personnel department, public complaint, public services, training etc, will upload information like transfer and posting orders, circular and related documents.

Kumar said that there is designated staff to handle the accounts of both the pages. He added that the pages on Facebook and Twitter will also be useful for state employees who work in the interiors of the state, as well as those who work in the media.

The general administration department has urged its officials and employees, besides general public to follow its activities in the Facebook, the sources added
