Governor asks for Report on Violence by Ranvir Sena Supporters on Sunday

Governor Devanand Konwar  has asked to prepare a report on the violence and arson perpetrated by alleged Ranvir Sena supporters on the streets of Patna. He cut short his visit to New Delhi and arrived in Patna on Sunday itself

Director general of police (DGP) Abhayanand and principal secretary (home) Amir Subhani held a closed-door meeting at the chief minister’s official residence with other top officials to finalise the report today.

As the procession entered Patna for the cremation, Singh’s supporters set afire a police outpost, and attacked police personnel and media persons. They also attacked state Bharatiya Janata Party president C.P. Thakur and damaged his vehicle.

Hundreds of people on motorcycles carrying bamboo sticks and iron rods targeted vehicles in Bihta and Danapur near Patna before entering the city.

The supporters pelted stones at vehicles of top police officials and also damaged vehicles of media persons.

Hundreds of vehicles formed part of the three-kilometre long convey.  As they walked, Singh’s supporters shouted slogans against the Bihar government and demanded death to the killers.

Police said the supporters were pouring into Patna from Gaya, Jehanabad, Aurangabad, Arwal, Bhojpur and Patna districts.
