MLA Chaudhari Bharat Singh shot in Delhi, Condition Critical

Bharat Singh MLA DelhiChaudhari   Bharat Singh, MLA from Nazafgarh Constituency in Delhi was shot today  at his office by four men who sped away in a car.

His condition is critical.

His uncle Dharampal, who too was injured in the attack at around 8.30 a.m., was out of danger, Deputy Commissioner of Police Anil Kumar Ojha told IANS.
Bharat Singh, 35, elected from Najafgarh, took a bullet on his left shoulder and another in his abdomen.

The bleeding man was rushed to the Mata Chanan Devi Hospital at Janakpuri where he was immediately wheeled into an operation theatre.

Bharat Singh, police said, was at his office in Sarangpur village when the attack took place.

“Three to four assailants entered the office and fired randomly injuring him critically. After committing the crime, they escaped,” Ojha said.

Police suspect personal enmity may be behind the shooting.

Bharat Singh is the brother of municipal councillor Kishen Pahalwan, who reportedly faces several criminal cases, Ojha said.

The attack came a day after Delhi’s legislators raised the issue of their security in the assembly.

Bharatiya Janata Party leader Vijay Kumar Malhotra condemned the attack.

“If an MLA can be shot during the day, it is a very, very serious situation. Delhi has become the crime capital.”

Chaudhari Bharat Singh, resident of Village Dichaon Kalan won the Najafgarh seat of MLA (Delhi) in 2009, as an independent candidate. Born on 5 June 1977, Ch. Bharat Singh is a humble farmer and has got popularity in political circles also.
