The Supreme Court today  rejected Nupur Talwar’s petition seeking review of its earlier order that she and her husband Rajesh be tried for the murder of their daughter Aarushi and their domestic help Hemraj. While Nupur Talwar is at the Dasna jail in Ghaziabad, her husband is out on bail.
A Bench of Justices A K Patnaik and J S Khehar had on May 16 reserved the order after hearing extensively the contentions of Nupur and the CBI which had strongly opposed her pleas.
Nupur had claimed that she was not asking for a clean chit in the murder case but wanted a direction to the CBI to re-investigate the case.
Nupur is now in judicial custody while her husband Rajesh Talwar, also a dentist, is out on bail. The case for their trial in the twin murder case is pending at a Ghaziabad sessions court.
Nupur, had also filed a fresh plea for bail in the pending petition before the apex court in which she has sought review of its decision giving a go ahead to criminal prosecution against her and her husband.
Stating that they would not rest till the real killers of their daughter Aarushi were caught, Rajesh and Nupur Talwar said Thursday they were “deeply disappointed” with the Supreme Court for rejecting their review plea but accepted the order with humility.
“We will defend our honour and that of our only child, Aarushi, vigorously in court and we will not rest till all our innocence is proved, our honour vindicated and the real killers are apprehended and brought to trial,” the Talwars said in a statement after the Supreme Court rejected their petition seeking review of the earlier order that they be tried for the murder of Aarushi and their domestic help Hemraj
“We are deeply disappointed at the dismissal of our review petition by the Supreme court, but we accept it with humility. We believe justice will one day prevail,” the couple said.
