Ram Jethmalani, former law minister , renowned Lawyer and a Rajya Sabha MP, has hinted that he may be BJP’s Candidate for Presidential Elections to be held next month. He opposed union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee’s candidature for the July 19 presidential poll.
“I might contest in the presidential election… I will decide in the next two or three days. I want to oppose Pranab’s candidature as he hasn’t revealed names of black money holders in foreign banks,” Jethmalani told IANS over phone.
Mukherjee was Friday named the United Progressive Alliance’s candidate for the presidential poll and most of the UPA constituents and supporting parties have pledged their support for him.
The BJP had earlier favoured A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. But in all probability, the former president will not contest, despite Mamata Banerjee insisting that her Trinamool Congress will support him.
