Asian Games Gold Medalist Pinki Pramanik has got bail in the rape case of a fellow neighbour.  The athlete’s neighbour had lodged a complaint at the Baguihati police station alleging that Ms. Pramanik was a male, and had repeatedly raped and tortured her.
Pramanik was arrested last week and remanded to 14 days’ judicial custody by a court Friday after the athlete’s live-in partner, a divorcee and a mother of one, filed a police complaint accusing the athlete of being a male who repeatedly “raped and tortured” her.
The athlete was sent to a district hospital for examination and later referred to the SSKM Hospital, where an 11-member medical board was constituted.
The hospital conducted various tests on June 25, but due to unavailability of proper facilities, the Karyotyping test couldn’t be carried out.
