Indian Air Force chief, Air Chief Marshal Norman Anil Kumar Browne yesterday arrived in Srinagar on  a 2 day visit of the State.
“The air chief met the station personnel and interacted with the key officials of the station. Addressing the personnel, Browne said he wanted to share with them some of his thoughts on the way the IAF is moving ahead,” said a defence statement.
“Srinagar is our premier frontline air base, which is also slated for major upgradation as a part of our ongoing modernisation drive,” the statement quoted him as saying.
“The air chief also inspected the newly-inducted Mi-17 V5 helicopter unit which has the onerous task of supporting the army units in the Jammu and Kashmir sector,” a defence spokesman said.
During the visit, Browne is also scheduled to call on Governor N.N. Vohra.
