Mahendra Singh Dhoni fined for slow over rate

Captain of Indian Cricket Team, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been fined for Slow Over Rate during First ODI against Sri Lanka.
India were ruled to be an over short of their target when time allowances were taken into consideration. ICC match referee Chris Broad imposed a 20 percent fine on Dhoni while each Indian player were docked 10 percent of their match fees.

“The offence is contrary to article 2.5.1 of the code which relates to minor over-rate offences,” ICC said in a statement Sunday.

With the win at Hambantota, India have taken a 1-0 lead in the five-match series and play the second one-dayer at the same venue on Tuesday.

Indian won the match  by 21 Runs. Man of the match Kohli said, “Performing for my country is the biggest thing for me, and I try to give my best out there for the team. Doing well in Australia really boosted my confidence, and that Test hundred really helped.”
Kohli and Sehwag tore into the Lankan bowling and they were fortunate as well with Sehwag being given a reprieve before he had scored by Dilshan who surprisingly dropped a sitter at his favourite position backward point and a few overs later missed running out Gautam Gambhir with a direct hit with the batsman well short of his crease. Sehwag who began shakily made Sri Lanka pay for their lapses by racing to 96 off 97 balls (12 fours) before being run out by Perera.

Kohli continued to plunder runs at will and scored 106 off 113 balls with nine fours before his dismissal. If Sri Lanka thought they had the Indian batting under control after the dismissals of Sehwag and Kohli, they were wrong for Suresh Raina and Dhoni then made sure India got past the 300-run mark with a partnership that produced 79 in nine overs toward the finish of their innings. Sri Lanka had much to blame for allowing India off the hook for their catching and ground fielding left a lot to be desired.
