Ahead of his agitation in Delhi starting Aug 9, yoga guru Baba Ramdev Sunday said he will visit the memorial of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Gujarat for three days of “meditation, introspection and nationalist thinking”.
In a statement here, Baba Ramdev said that Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati, Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel were his inspiration since childhood.
“I have decided that before the Aug 9 agitation, I will be at ‘Karmsad’ (Patel’s memorial) for three days of meditation, introspection and nationalist thinking,” he said in the statement.
Ramdev had recently praised and shared the stage with Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi at a function in Ahmedabad.
The yoga guru further said that black money, corruption, price rise, unemployment and other such problems were breaking the country into pieces and he had come to the memorial with a resolve to work towards Patel’s dream of ideal India.
Ramdev would begin his indefinite fast against corruption and black money stashed abroad from Aug 9 at the Ramlila ground here.
The yoga guru, along with his supporters last year too had agitated at the same venue but had to stop it after a midnight crackdown by Delhi Police which also claimed a woman’s life.
However, Ramdev urged the government and the Delhi Police to not disturb his “peaceful” agitation this time.
“Our movement is non-violent and peaceful. To agitate is our constitutional right and the Delhi Police and the government should not conspire to stop it,” he said.
