Illegal Drinking Party busted in Pune

Pune  A weekend drinks party allegedly going on at a resort of the relative of a Maharashtra politician was busted here last week and over 750 underage people detained for consuming liquor and smoking.

“We had been receiving complaints from parents stating that their children hold such parties and pressurise them to grant permission to attend the said parties. They had approached us requesting if we can bust such parties and send the children home,” an official from the Pune Police’s Social Security Cell told IANS.

These parents had also provided the address where the party was being organised. Acting on this tip-off, police raided the party where over 750 youngsters were seen drinking and smoking.

“Most of them were underage. They were mostly school students. Only a few of them were above 18,” the official said.

Considering their age, the children were let off with a warning. Most students were brought to the police station and then handed over to their parents, who thanked the policemen for taking their children to task for attending such parties where alcohol was consumed.

Police had also detained two of the seven organisers of the party and six boys above the age of 18, who were let off later after they paid a penalty.

The entry fee for the party was Rs.400 each and had two themes. In the “Happy Hour” theme, students could buy alcohol for half the price while in the “Bladder Full” theme, they could drink for free unless they used the washroom.
