Pakistan Violates Ceasefire Third Time this week

In the 3rd Ceasefire Violation  by Pakistan this week, a BSF Jawan  was injured . The firing was directed at the Indian observation post in Ranbir Singh Pura sector, 35 km west of Jammu, “which was returned to silence Pakistani guns”.

Two BSF men were injured in firing on patrol squad earlier this week, while there was firing in RS Pura sector which was again unprovoked, according to BSF officials.

The BSF has recently discovered an over 500-metre tunnel into India across the international border in Samba sector near Chilyari post, originating from Lambrayal post about 500 metres from the place where tunnel was discovered.

Following the discovery, Pakistan has stepped up firing in the sector and around, said security agency officials, adding that Pakistan usually resorts to firing to give cover to infiltrators or some other anti-India activity.

Security and vigil on the international boundary and the Line of Control (LOC) is on high alert in view of Independence Day ahead when militants make a desperate attempts to carry out strikes.

There have been more than 250 violations by Pakistan since 2006 and 21st this year, officials said.

India and Pakistan had agreed for ceasefire on the border in November 2003 which is considered as one of the pivotal confidence building measures regarding Jammu and Kashmir.
