Gopal Kanda Goyal, the prime accused in Geetika Sharma Suicide Case has applied for anticipatory bail. His counsel  moved a District and Sessions court in Rohini court complex seeking anticipatory bail. The application will come up for hearing tomorrow.
KandaÂ’s counsel, senior advocate Ramesh Gupta, said one of the grounds for seeking anticipatory bail is that the FIR registered in the case does not disclose the commission of offence under section 306 IPC pertaining to abetment of suicide.
He also said “it is only under media pressure that the police are acting in the way they are.” Geetika Sharma (23), a former air hostess with Kanda’s now defunct MDLR airline, alleged in her suicide note that she was ending her life due to harassment by Kanda and MDLR official Aruna Chaddha. Kanda and Chaddha had denied the allegations.
Earlier, speaking to IBN7, former Haryana minister Gopal Kanda, who also owns the MDLR group, claimed he had nothing to with Geetika’s suicide and that he does not have any relations with her family.
He told the channel that he simply helped Geetika do her MBA by funding the course.
Kanda added, “Even my daughter who is 19 years of age is the director of a company, so why would I object to Geetika when she was made the director at 23 years of age?”
“A legal advisor of MDLR group, Ankit Ahluwalia, was called for questioning on Tuesday and Kanda is expected to join the probe on Wednesday.
Sources said that after the interrogation of Ahluwalia, the section of criminal intimidation was added in the FIR as call details confirmed that they were calling Geetika.
“Family members were claiming that Geetika had received a call from Ahluwalia, hours before she committed suicide. It has been established that they were threatening the family,” the officer added.
The Delhi Police on Thursday raided the residence of former Haryana minister and prime accused in the Geetika Sharma suicide case, Gopal Goyal Kanda, in Sirsa and several other properties of his in Delhi and the NCR. To track the Sirsa politician down, various teams raided Kanda’s farmhouse in Gurgaon and the MDLR office, but couldn’t find him.
Geetika was found hanging in her flat in north west Delhi on August 5. Kanda, an Independent MLA who held Home, Urban Bodies and Industry and Commerce portfolios, resigned the following day.
