Bihar Science and Technology Deprtment would set up a Science City at Patna on the pattern of Science City at Kolkata in order to boost Scientific Tourism in the state.
The Science City, Patna would present several scientific wonders to the viewers including space theatre, mirror magic, power of ten, maritime centre, 5D theatre, butterfly garden, musical fountain, outdoor science and energy park, mini nuclear reactor, space and aviation gallery, renewable energy village.
The Government has already initiated the setup of Astro-Tourism Center in the City and revamped the Patna Planetarium.
The Patna Science City would be built  over a 15 acres of Land near Moin-ul-Haq Stadium, Rajendranagar at a estimated cost of Rs 100 Crores.
The science and technology department has invited proposals for the selection of a master planning consultant, who shall prepare a master plan and feasibility report for development of the project. Â The consultant would be responsible for preparing the master plan and feasibility report in accordance with the terms of reference (ToR) specified in RFP document.
“The department intends to select the consultant through an open competitive bidding process in accordance with the procedure set out in the Request For Proposal (RFP) document,” said Bihar’s principal secretary, information and technology (IT), Arun K Singh.
The master plan for development of the site may include, but not be limited to, parks and open space, and institutional areas. The consultant is expected to propose an appropriate mix of some of these items befitting the budget.
The deadline for the project will be known once the detailed project report is submitted by the master plan consultant. However, it may take about two years to complete the project.
