Hyderabad: South Korea will host the 12th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP12) to the Convention on Biological Diversity in 2014, it was announced  during 11th meeting at Hyderabad.
Chairing the plenary session on the final day of COP11 here, India’s Minister for Environment and Forests Jayanthi Natarajan announced that South Korea would also host the seventh meeting of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety.
It will also be the first meeting of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from their Utilization.
The plenary unanimously adopted a decision for organising the COP and other connected meetings in the second half of 2014. South Korea thanked the delegates for accepting its offer to host the event.
The plenary also unanimously passed a draft decision moved by the European Commission, paying tribute to government and people of India for hosting COP10.
The meet also deeply appreciated the excellent arrangements made and special courtesy and warm hospitality of Indian government, the Andhra Pradesh government, Hyderabad and the people.
