As many as 38 new dengue cases were reported in the capital Saturday, taking the total number of those suffering from the disease in Delhi to 1,646, official data showed.
Of the 38 new cases, nine were reported from the areas under North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC), 17 from South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), 11 from East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC), while the address of one person could not be ascertained.
The mosquito-borne disease has claimed four lives since it hit the capital this year. The South DMC has reported the maximum number of cases at 627 from its area.
Apart from Delhi, 12 dengue cases originated from neighbouring states pushing the total to 1,658 in the capital region.
In 2011, 999 dengue cases were reported in Delhi with five deaths, down from 6,006 cases with seven deaths in 2010, which was a peak.
